DR. HIVELY'S REVIEW:

I acquired Baseline 2.0 Pro by authorized internet download, with a company "code" to register the software. The setup was pretty straightforward and without incident. It came "zipped" (file compressed) and opened to a 4.06 MB file. This compact file size is nice if one has limited hard drive or RAM memory.

Baseline 2.0 Pro has a very easy "learning curve." For those who have never ventured into the realm of survey / deed CAD software, ease of learning is a huge attribute. Baseline's "Windows Help" file has a number of pluses. First, when it opens, the whole file index just fills the screen. Thus, all of the selections are viewable every time. The tutorial is a snap. It has just four basic lessons and then even the novice has the basics to get started.

I set up and input a four call, metes and bounds survey all in about two minutes. Line labeling of the metes and bounds calls is automatic (nice!). The labeling fonts and their colors are selectable, as is the background and boundary colors.

Multiple connected-draft surveys are possible from any existing tract corner, or by file import from another project.

The software supports any Windows resident printer or pen plotter. Thus, you may print to whatever type or brand of machine attached to your system.

Import files support Baseline's own file extensions, .Bmp files and ISRI shape files. Export files support .DXF, .Bmp, ASCII and ESRI files. Fortunately, .DXF .BMP and ASCII are popular industry standard file formats.

Baseline 2.0 Professional is worthy of a solid look. It's easy learning - curve, high ease of use, wide variety of selections and generally solid features make it a deed / survey CAD program quite worthy of good repute.
