BIOGRAPHY:
The Rev'd Dr. Neal Otto Hively is an ordained Evangelical Lutheran Church in America clergyman, ordained by the Central PA Synod, LCA in 1976, currently serving as pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg, Franklin County, PA.
He was born in 1950, the second son of Otto and Mildred Hively. His older brother, Dr. Lee M. Hively, PhD., lives with wife Lisa and their family in Tennessee. The Hively's originally hail from Williamsport, Lycoming County, PA.
Neal Hively is a graduate of Thiel College, Greenville, PA, with a major in Classical Languages; The Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysburg (Master of Divinity, 1976) and (Master of Sacred Theology, 1984); The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (Doctor of Ministry, 1990).
He is the recipient of the Lower Susquehanna Synod's Excellence in Evangelism Award (1991), and listed in Who's Who in American Religion, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in Emerging Leaders. He has been featured in numerous local newspaper and magazine articles for his research and work in both church evangelism and Pennsylvania original land records. He is a frequent speaker to local civic, historic and professional societies.
In June 2003 he was honored by the South Central PA Genealogical Society with its Dr. Henry J. Young Award, "In recognition of his significant contributions to genealogy and local history."
He resides with his wife Lee (Codd) near Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
